Memorial Day
We had a pretty eventful Memorial Day to say the least. I am a little hesitant to share our misfortune, but am doing so because this is a blog of our lives and this is something that happened. You gotta take the good with the bad. It just reiterates that we can be doing everything right and bad things can still happen. And also that just when we think we are in control we realize we are not. We got a generous tax refund this year and used it to pay off both of our cars. We follow the basic Dave Ramsey method, which is to pay off all loans in order of amount, from smallest to largest. The only thing larger than the cars is the house, but that isn't gonna happen any time soon! We were very thankful to be able to pay off the cars though. I'll get to the point. Brandon kindly washed my car for me that Sunday night and then pulled it in the center of the garage to vacuum it out. It is usually parked to the far left of the garage and his is parked outside on the right side. Well, on this particular day the unnamed driver assumed the car was parked in its normal position; however, this driver quickly realized that things were a little "off" as he/she met resistance upon backing out of the driveway. So yes, both of our cars were wrecked. Kinda ironic isn't it, that we just got them paid off yet will still must pay to get them fixed! Thankfully Brandon's dad was able to fix mine except for the paint so we just have to get it painted. Brandon's car on the other hand requires a bit more. The good news is that both are completely driveable and no one was hurt during this accident.
We then went swimming at Brandon's parents' house. Hutch and Anniston got to use their new pool floats (which I got for $7 for both - yay consignment!) and had a great time. They both love the water, but Hutch more so than Anniston. Here are some pics from the water!
Ok, that totally stinks about your cars!!! I wont ask who the "unnamed" driver was! Is that short hair I see??!!! And we have the EXACT same floats. The one A is in we have at our house, and H's we use at the grandparents! Too funny! See you all on Wednesday!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on paying off your cars! Yay! We are Dave Ramsey graduates ourselves. To this day we each have our monthly "blow money." Tate gets blow money too. :)
ReplyDeleteYou are not alone in the "wreck your own cars in your own driveway" category. I damaged my car once when backing into David's truck that was parked in an unusual place. His was fine, mine got a new fender.
