Finally....a blog!

I've tried a few times to start a blog. I've always wanted one, but the time it takes was something that I just didn't have. Now that I don't have to deal with bottles anymore, I have a little bit more time in the evenings, so I'm gonna give it another go. I'll get you up to speed from the past year and then try to stay current. No promises though! I'll post on Hutch tonight and Anniston tomorrow night.

My sweet angel, Hutch Hutch was my baby A, born first on December 29, 2008 weighing 5lbs, 13.5oz and 17 inches long. He came into this world needing a little assistance to breathe, but after a few hours he came to see me for the first time and we fell in love. He had feeding difficulties the first week or so of life but quickly caught on to this whole eating thing and has been going at it ever since. He gained weight like a pro throughout his first year of life and is now 22 lbs, 11oz and 30in at 12 months. He is a very healthy little boy and we are so thankful for that. He had a cold at 4 months that required him to use an inhaler, bless his heart, and had another very mild cold at 11 months. Other than that, no illnesses. Some may have noticed that his head is large compared to his sister's. He has benign macrocephalia of infancy, which means a big head! He gets that from Grumps' side of the family. This is a benign condition that he will outgrow. We are also dealing with eczema right now but are getting it under control.

Back to food, Hutch LOVES to eat! He has been off the bottle since the day after his birthday and is doing well with his sippy cup. He is eating mostly table foods (organic when possible!). His favorites include lima beans, edamame, cheerios, and dried peas. This boy does not refuse much. He is on whole milk and tolerating it well. He was previously allergic to rice but has outgrown that. He has had trouble in the past with peaches, beets, broccoli, cheese, and yogurt, but we will be reintroducing all these sometime in the next few months. Oddly enough, he HATED his birthday cake, or rather the attention that the cake brought. He didn't eat any of it and cried when we put his hand in it. I think the 30 people singing loudly and staring at him may have had something to do with it.

Hutch is right where he should be developmentally. He was late to sit but besides that has been right on the ball with everything else. Right now he is taking about 8 steps at a time. It won't be long before he will be walking like a pro. He loves to play peekaboo, clap, wave, and give high fives. His favorite toys include his cozy coupe car, piggy bank, push toys, and books. This boy LOVES books! His words are mama, dada, and bubba. He has recently been calling me mama instead of just babbling it. He also has long conversations but we don't know what he is saying yet, just jibber jabber. He loves to squeal and then for someone to squeal back at him - this can go on for quite awhile. It's so cute. He is a momma's boy and proud of it! His nicknames include Hutchie, Hutchman, H-man, Hutchie Wutchie, Hutchzilla (when he is mad/hungry), and love bug. He has 2 teeth completely in and 5 more barely in. He does this cute thing where he grins and leans his head all the way back. It'll getcha every time.

We have been sleep training since the babies were 11 months. We put them in their beds for naps and bedtime and they usually will fall asleep without any assistance. Hutch falls asleep with his white blanket from Brandon's friend, Charlie, and then I go take it away when he is asleep. Because I am a former NICU nurse and a worry wart, I am still scared of SIDS since there are documented cases up to the age of 18 months. So all this boy sleeps with is a pacifier for now. He wakes up every night around midnight and sleeps in the bed with Mommy and Daddy until about 6am, when he decides it's time for everyone to get up!

Hutch is such a sweet, cuddly, silly, handsome, and wonderful little boy who has made me a better person just because I can call him my son. He is our (male) pride and joy and we couldn't be happier to have been chosen to be his parents. What an awesome responsibility but an even awesomer blessing. We love our Hutchie!!
