1st BIRTHDAY!!
Hutch and Anniston celebrated their first birthday on December 29th. It was such a bittersweet day for me. I only cried once. I'm so thankful for how far we've come but wish that for just one day I could go back to the beginning. If I went back now I would be rested, well, and not hurting. I would be able to "enjoy" it more. I'm just so thankful for what God has given me and Brandon. There is no greater (earthly) gift imaginable.
We had a regular 'ole day at home and went to Jason's Deli with both sets of grandparents for dinner on their actual birthday. Hutch and Anniston got to eat their first (organic, sugar free) sucker and loved it!
We had their birthday party on January 2nd, after all the holiday hoopla was over. It was a farm theme. We had all of our famliy and friends together (minus sick Gigi, boo!!) for a time of celebration. We were all surprised that they HATED their cake. Yes, it was vegan, organic, milk/butter/egg free but it did not taste bad. I think they were just scared of the 30+ people singing and starting at them. They really didn't even ever get a taste. So not the typical reaction to a first birthday cake, but typical is boring. And these little rascals are as far from typical as they come, especially one :)
Oh, and as a birthday gift to Mommy, Hutch and Anniston decided they would cooperate and let her take their bottles away. Below is a picture of their next to last bottle. I held each of them for their very last bottle and it brought back so many memories of our journey through the past year. From Hutch not eating at all to Anniston screaming with every swallow.
Next to last bottle/last bottle to feed to ourselves
