Big Boy!!
I can't very well post about the baby girl and not the baby boy! But, as much as I hate to say it, they are not babies anymore. The newest announcement is that Hutch is finally out of diapers. Woo hoo!! I've had quite a few people "judge" me for him being in diapers past the age of 3, but I didn't let it get to me, with good reason.
Some may not know, but Hutch has never liked to eat. He has always preferred to drink and would drink about 10 cups of liquid a day. Some milk, some water, and some heavily watered down juice. Okay and a few sips of Coke here and there :) He had his favorite foods that he would sometimes eat, but generally only drank. I started giving him smoothies to help him get his nutrients but the bottom line was that he didn't like to eat and about 9 months ago I figured out why: his tonsils were HUGE and it was hurting the little guy to eat food. The liquid was soothing. So he drank and drank and I begged and begged for a tonsillectomy but was always told to "wait until he is older", aka FIVE! Well, finally I knew it was time. He also has sleep apnea due to the size of his tonsils and was cranky/not sleeping well at night/ taking 4-5hr naps, etc. The ENT finally agreed to do it.
We are now on day 10 of recovery and I have a NEW BOY! This surgery has literally been life changing already. He is talking, eating, sleeping, and acting so much better. He is taking shorter naps (since the sleep apnea is gone and helping him sleep better at night), not waking AT ALL during the night (which he has never done before). We had a few rough nights during the first part of recovery (which required a hospital stay) but we have made it through the worst and he was so spoiled during all of this that he said "Mommy, that was fun." Ha!!
Anyways, that is why I have not been pushing the potty training issue with him. He was just drinking WAY too much for it to even be fair to try to get him to pee in the potty every time. So I was waiting until after his surgery. So, on day 7 of recovery, after I could see he was feeling better and drinking way less, I said, "Hutch I am tired of diapers. Can we please throw them all away?" He said yes. And that was that! No accidents, no "I want a diaper on", nothing, nada, zilch! This boy has it down!!!
I am soooooooooo proud of him and sooooooooooo glad to be done with diapers!!!!
